ELD setup and installation is simple: plug the device into your vehicle's ECU (OBD-II or 9-pin/15-pin) port, download the Route One ELD driver app, log in with your credentials, and connect via Bluetooth. Most drivers complete the setup in under 10 minutes.
Getting your Route One ELD device connected and running is straightforward.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Go to client.routeoneeld.com/register and register your company account. Then add your vehicles and drivers from the Fleet Portal.
Step 2: Add Your Vehicle and Driver
In the Fleet Portal, add your vehicle (VIN, plate, year/make/model) and create a driver profile. The driver receives login credentials for the app.
Step 3: Plug in the ELD Device
Locate your vehicle's diagnostic port — a 9-pin or 15-pin port (heavy duty) or OBD-II (passenger vehicles). Plug the device in. It powers on automatically with the ignition. See compatible hardware.
Step 4: Download the Driver App
Search "Route One ELD" in the App Store (iOS 16.6+) or Google Play (Android 8.0+). Install and open. Make sure Location permission is set to "Always Allow" — the app requires this to function correctly. Check phone and tablet requirements.
Step 5: Connect to the Device
Log into the app with the driver credentials from Step 2. To connect to the ELD device, scan the QR code printed on the device label, or manually enter the MAC address from the label. Bluetooth must be enabled on your phone or tablet.
Step 6: Start Driving
Begin driving and the ELD switches to driving mode once the vehicle exceeds 5 mph. Your logs are now recording.
