The driver app runs on Android 8.0 or higher or iOS 16.6 or higher (Apple). The device must have Bluetooth, mobile data, and Location permission set to Always Allow. A 4G LTE SIM card slot is required for continuous connectivity.
The Route One ELD driver app runs on most modern smartphones and tablets. Here's what you need to know before purchasing a device.
Android Requirements
Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher. Compatible with Samsung, LG, and other major Android manufacturers. The device must have Bluetooth and a 4G LTE SIM slot. Location permission must be set to "Always Allow" — see all permissions the driver app requires.
iOS Requirements
iOS 16.6 or higher. Compatible with iPhone and iPad. Must have Bluetooth capability and a cellular data plan or hotspot connection. Location permission must be set to "Always Allow" in iOS Settings → Route One ELD → Location.
Why 4G LTE?
The app syncs log data to the cloud in real time. Wi-Fi-only tablets work in areas with Wi-Fi, but won't maintain a connection on the road. A cellular SIM ensures continuous syncing.
Recommended Devices
We recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab A-series tablets or Apple iPad for drivers who want a larger screen. For phone-only setups, any current-generation iPhone or Android flagship works well. See everything the driver app can do.
