You can connect by scanning the QR code on the ELD device with the app's built-in scanner, or by entering the device serial number manually if the QR code is unavailable.
The Route One ELD driver app supports two ways to pair with the ELD hardware: scanning the QR code on the device, or entering the serial number manually.
Before connecting, make sure the ignition is on — the ELD device needs vehicle power to be discoverable. See why the ignition must be on before connecting.
Method 1: QR Code (Recommended)
1. In the driver app, go to the device pairing screen. 2. Tap **Scan QR Code**. 3. Point the camera at the QR code printed on the ELD device (usually on the side or bottom of the unit). 4. The app reads the code and automatically fills in the device details. 5. Confirm the pairing.
QR scanning is faster and eliminates the risk of typos. The Camera permission must be enabled — see what permissions the driver app requires.
Method 2: Manual Entry
Use manual entry if the QR code is damaged, covered, or unreadable. 1. In the driver app, go to the device pairing screen. 2. Tap **Enter Manually** (or skip the QR scan option). 3. Enter the **serial number** printed on the ELD device label. 4. Confirm the pairing.
The serial number is a combination of letters and numbers printed on the device itself or on the box it came in.
After Pairing
Once connected, the app shows the device as active and begins syncing. See the full ELD installation guide for the complete setup sequence.
If the device doesn't appear or the connection fails, see how to fix ELD connection issues.
