Yes. During driver setup in the Fleet Portal, owner-operators can enable the 'I am the driver' toggle to automatically populate their personal details for both the fleet and driver accounts.
Owner-operators who drive their own truck need two things: a Fleet Portal account to manage vehicles and compliance, and a driver account to log in to the Route One ELD driver app. Route One ELD lets you set up both in a single workflow during the driver creation step.
The "I Am the Driver" Toggle
When you create a driver profile in the Fleet Portal, you'll see a toggle labeled "I am the driver." Turning it on tells the system that the fleet account owner and the driver are the same person. Your name, email, and contact information are automatically populated in the driver profile — no need to re-enter them.
Step-by-Step Setup
Register your company account at client.routeoneeld.com/register. Have your USDOT number ready — it's required for registration. Then add your vehicle (see vehicle information required for setup). When you reach the driver creation screen, enable the "I am the driver" toggle and save. Your driver app credentials will be emailed to the same address used for your Fleet Portal account.
What You Receive
After enabling the toggle, you'll receive an email with your driver app login credentials. This is identical to the email invitation sent to any new driver. If you don't see it, check spam or see what to do if you forgot your login credentials.
Logging Into the Driver App
Download the Route One ELD driver app from the App Store (iOS 16.6+) or Google Play (Android 8.0+) and log in with the credentials from the email. Then connect the ELD device by QR code or manually and you're ready to drive. See the full installation guide for complete steps.
Managing Both Accounts
As an owner-operator, you'll use the Fleet Portal on a laptop or desktop to review logs and manage compliance, and the driver app on your phone or tablet while driving. Both are linked to the same vehicle and the same log history.
