Is There a Time Limit for Fleet Managers to Suggest Edits to a Driver's Log?

Yes. Fleet managers can only suggest edits to a driver's log within 14 days of the log date. Logs older than 14 days are locked and cannot be edited.

Yes. Fleet managers can only suggest edits to a driver's log within 14 days of the log date. Logs older than 14 days are locked and cannot be edited by either the driver or the fleet manager.

Why the 14-Day Limit Exists

FMCSA regulations set a 14-day window for HOS log edits. This limit applies to all edits — whether suggested by fleet managers or made directly by drivers. After 14 days, the log is considered a permanent, unalterable record.

What the 14-Day Window Covers

- Fleet managers suggesting corrections to duty status entries - Drivers adding missed events to their own logs - Any annotation or note added to an existing entry

Auto-recorded Driving events are always locked regardless of when they occurred — they cannot be edited even within the 14-day window. See why auto-recorded driving events can't be edited.

What Happens After 14 Days

Once a log is outside the 14-day window, neither the driver nor the fleet manager can suggest edits through the app or Fleet Portal. If a correction is genuinely needed for a log older than 14 days, this typically requires contacting FMCSA directly or handling it through a formal compliance process outside of Route One ELD.

For Drivers

Drivers have the same 14-day limit for adding missed events to their own logs — see how to add a missed duty status event. After a fleet manager's edit suggestion is accepted, the driver must re-certify — see driver approval of fleet manager log edits.
