Roadside Inspection with Route One ELD: A Driver's Guide

Tap 'Inspection' in the navigation bar, then tap 'Send output file to FMCSA' to transmit digitally. You can also tap 'Download PDF report' to show the officer a visual logbook summary on screen.

Roadside inspections are stressful, but with Route One ELD, presenting your logs takes less than 30 seconds.

Before the Inspection

Make sure you're logged into the app and your device is connected. Your current HOS status should be visible on the dashboard.

Option 1: Send the Output File Electronically

Tap the "Inspection" section, then tap "Send output file to FMCSA." The app transmits your logs directly to the DOT inspector's portal. This is the preferred method.

Option 2: Show the PDF Report

Tap "Inspection," tap "Download PDF report," and show the downloaded PDF on your screen to the officer.

What the Inspector Will See

Your logs include duty status history, driving time, location data, vehicle information, and carrier details — everything required under 49 CFR Part 395.

If Your Device Has a Connection Issue

Contact Route One ELD support immediately. In the meantime, use your paper logs as backup documentation. For device malfunction procedures, see ELD malfunction guide.
