No. The vehicle must be fully stopped before you can manually change your duty status in the Route One ELD driver app.
No. The Route One ELD driver app does not allow manual duty status changes while the vehicle is in motion. The status picker is locked when the vehicle is moving.
Why Manual Changes Are Locked
FMCSA regulations prohibit manual duty status changes while driving. When the vehicle exceeds 5 mph, the ELD automatically sets your status to Driving — and only the vehicle coming to a full stop can end that Driving segment. This prevents drivers from logging non-driving time while actually operating the vehicle. See how the ELD triggers driving mode for the full automatic behavior.
What to Do
If you need to change your duty status, pull over safely, come to a complete stop, and then make the change in the app. For example, if you want to switch to On Duty Not Driving to log a fuel stop or inspection, the vehicle must be parked before the app will allow the change.
When the Vehicle Stops
Once speed reaches 0 mph, the ELD ends the Driving segment and returns you to your previous duty status. The status picker becomes active again at that point and you can switch to a different status if needed.
For a full description of each status and when to use it, see the four duty statuses in the driver app.
