How Do I Add a Note or Annotation to a Log Event?

Tap the duty status event in your Logs, select the notes field, type your annotation or choose a preset option, and save.

Notes and annotations give context to log entries without changing the underlying record. They appear alongside the event in the log and are visible to fleet managers and DOT inspectors.

When to Use Annotations

Annotations are most useful for: - Explaining an auto-recorded Driving event that doesn't match your memory (e.g., someone else moved the vehicle) - Clarifying why a duty status looks unusual at a specific time - Adding required context when making a log correction

Note: for auto-recorded Driving events, you can only add a note — you cannot change the event itself. See why auto-recorded driving events can't be edited.

Steps to Add a Note

1. Open the driver app and go to **Logs**. 2. Select the day with the event you want to annotate. 3. Tap the duty status event on the log timeline. 4. Select the **notes field**. 5. Type your annotation, or choose from any preset options shown. 6. Tap **Save**.

Notes Are Part of the Audit Trail

Once saved, the note is attached to the event permanently and appears alongside it in the log history. Notes cannot be deleted — they become part of the permanent record. See what happens to the original log entry after a correction for how edits and annotations are preserved.
